Mysterious Illnesses

It's very strange how two children can have the same illness and be affected so differently.

Peanut woke up yesterday with a low-grade fever and complained of "feeling funny when I walk". That's what she says every time she's sick and we can't get her to be more specific. All we can figure is that she feels dizzy or lightheaded. She laid around for about an hour and after that, appeared to be back to herself. Her temperature had returened to normal. She did her schoolwork and kept up her constant chatter all morning, slowing down about lunchtime when her temp went up again. And again, in a couple hours, she was back to herself, and has remained herself ever since.

(I should probably insert her, because it is very blogworthy, that Sissy took it upon herself to make Peanut's bed for her. She also brought Peanut her favorite doll when Peanut just felt like lying on the couch.)

This morning Sissy woke up with a fever of 103 and no complaints, just complete listlessness. The lowest her temp has been all day is 100.6. It's mostly fluctuated between 101 and 103. I don't rush to the doctor with them like I used to. There's so much they can be exposed to there that I like to wait a day or so anyway. However, it was a little scary when I gave her acetaminophen for a temp of 101, and two hours later her temp was 103! I gave her ibuprofen and it came down some then.

She perked up for a while when her Pappaw came to see her. She even got up and played computer games with him.
Tonight we watched Robots and she really acted like she felt better than she had all day -- but still had a high fever.

(I should probably insert here that Peanut brought Sissy some candy after a trip to town with her Daddy. )

They don't usually get sick this early in the "sick" season. I hope this is not a sign that it's going to be a hard winter around here.

Hopefully they're just getting the sicknesses out of the way early in the season. (= It's nice to hear they're showing compassion to each other while they're sick...that's sweet!

Hope they recover quickly!

We're going on vacation for over a week, leaving Tuesday, and both little boys have come down with runny nose / congestion colds... and my husband has one, too. )= Viruses have certainly begun their circulation.

It's so sweet that they did things for each other while the other was down. That's so great to see as a parent!

God bless,
Sallie
