What the World Needs : An 8 year old's Perspective on Foul Language

So there I sat with the remote control in my hand, watching the TV guide channel with Sissy, who was a little under the weather, and getting in much more than her usual allottment of TV time.
It was Sunday evening and there wasn't much of a selection. One show looked faintly promising, so I hit the 'info' button, and up came a brief description of the show in question.
I was able to determine rather quickly that this was not a show we would be watching, because the brief description contained a certain four-letter word.
I made an "aackkk " sound, and clicked out of the description before Sissy read it.

Of course, she wanted to know what was wrong .

Nothing, I told her.

"Then what was wrong with that show? ", she wanted to know.

Me: It had a bad word in it.

Sissy: Oh.

A few seconds go by

Sissy: What was the bad word?

Me: I'm not telling you.

Sissy: But I just want to know WHICH bad word it was.

Me : (thinking to myself while alarms go off in my head) : What do you mean WHICH bad word? You know bad words? You know more than ONE bad word? You can't possibly know bad words. I hardly let you out of my sight. I can't believe my baby girl knows bad words. Oh no. What else do you know that I don't know you know?

Me: (to Sissy, with all the aloofness I can muster): How many bad words do you know?

Sissy: Well......... there's butt and stupid.......let's see......fat......dumb...... oh and poop.....

She thought a little longer but that was all she could come up with, leaving me breathing a sigh of relief and a "Thank you Lord".

For right now at least, I think we're OK in the area of 'bad words'.

Thanks ladies. I have a friend who after reading this told me of a similar experience with her son.
I think even as Christians, we've been in the world so much that we forget what it's like to be that innocent. I'm so thankful Sissy still is.
