So excited were they about the impending arrival of this family, that they decided to wait outside and watch for them.
After about ten minutes, Peanut got cold and came in. I was actually surprised she stayed out that long. It was about 30 degrees outside. And she gets her zero cold tolerance from her Momma.
But she was not going to miss out on the exact moment their friends arrived, because she and Sissy had a plan.
She informed me that -
"When, Sissy sees them coming up the road, she's going to give me the signal....kaKAW, kaKAW!"
" What's with the secrecy? " , I wanted to ask . "Why doesn't Sissy just holler, "They're here!"??
But remembering a little girl I used to know who loved being sneaky and spy-like when playing Six Million Dollar Man with her brother, I decided not to mess with their fun.
Glancing out the window, I saw Sissy in the front yard, bundled up against the cold, looking down the street, standing guard like her very life depended on it.
I then watched as Peanut took off her shoes, found a book, and settled into the recliner with a big contented sigh.
My brother would never have let me get away with that.
